FAQ

FAQ’s

Q:     Why do you offer Private Lessons First?

A:        We do Private Lessons first to provide the important one on one training for you and your four legged loved one, this way both of you have a solid understanding of commands and what to expect in a variety of different situations.  We know in a group setting, at first, not all people and dogs are at the same level so it is very possible for one handler and their dog to take more of the trainers time, leaving others feeling like they are just standing around and afraid to ask for questions or for help.

Q:     What training methods do you use?

A:        There are many different ways to train a dog and may not be one specific method right for your dog.  We are trained in several different methods and like to use different methods depending on your situation and end goal for your dog.  All of our training methods are humane and nonviolent.

Q:     I have an older dog; is he too old to be trained?

A:        No, the saying “Old dogs can’t learn new tricks”, is false.  Any dog at any age can still learn.

Q:     Do you Alpha train?

A:        No, absolutely not!  In our opinion Alpha training is a fear based training were the dog is taught to fear you when doing what you ask him to do.  We feel that our dogs are family members and should follow the rules of the house just like ourselves, kids, friends and family that visit.

Q:    What is the right age to start training?

A:        It is never too early to start training.  A puppy’s mother starts teaching them as soon as they are born.  At the younger ages it is very important to start socializing them and teaching them how to meet, greet and play with other dogs as well as them on a structured program for exercise, potty training and manners.
